PROGRAMME OF EVENTS FOR 2022


Sussex Clubs for Young People work with practitioners across Sussex with decades of experience to bring you a variety of training opportunities at highly subsidised prices, with this in mind, we have organised the following training courses for you, your volunteers and your young people.

Our staff attend these courses, so we know how good they are, book your place/s soon as they fill up quick.

Child Protection – Level 3 Training

Venue: Sylvia Beaufoy Centre, Midhurst Road, Petworth GU28 0ET

Dates: Saturday 28th May 2022

Times: 9am to 5pm

Cost: £30.00 per person

This one-day course aims to raise awareness of child protection and the issues surrounding abuse, along with its effects on children.

It is more scenario based, helping participants gain a greater practical understanding and application of this subject, to their work situation. It is designed for staff / trustees and volunteers working in charitable organisations or a care environment.

It is facilitated by Matthew Plumridge who is a specialist trainer and consultant to the charity sector with 30 years of experience supporting small, medium and large UK and international charities.

He has delivered training across the UK, Jersey, Denmark and France and specialises in Safeguarding, Volunteer Management, Recruitment, Retention and a number of personal development courses.


SCYP Summer Camp 2022

Venue: Blackland Farm, Grinstead Lane, East Grinstead RH19 4HP

Dates: Monday 30th May, Tuesday 31st May and Wednesday 1st June 2022

Times: Arrive: Monday 12 noon – Depart: Wednesday 2pm

AgesFor ages: 8 to 14 years old

Cost:  Young People – £60.00 per person I  Young Leaders – £30 per person (aged 14+ and completed training with SCYP).

YOUNG PEOPLE MUST ATTEND AS PART OF A REGISTERED MEMBER GROUP

We are hosting a summer camp for our membership clubs which offers a fantastic range of fun opportunities. We will be camping in the Woodpecker site at Blackland Farm near East Grinstead.

Our provisional programme for the weekend includes night games, campfire, campcraft, swimming and kayaking.

It will be a chance for young people to meet with other youth groups from around Sussex and make friends in this beautiful setting.

Introduction to Youth Work

Venue: Dorman’s Youth Art Centre, Dormans, Gossops Green  RH11 8HZ

Dates: Saturday 18th June and Saturday 25th June 2022

Times: 11am to 4.30pm both days

Cost: £48.00 per person

The Introduction to Youth Work Course is a 2-day course that offers participants an opportunity to explore key principles, themes and models related to youth work practice.

Learning outcomes include: 

  • An increased understanding of the purpose and principles that underpin youth work practice
  • How to build professional relationships with young people 
  • Exploring confidentiality and personal boundaries
  • Anti-Oppressive Practice- what does this mean and how is it embedded in our work with young people
  • Safeguarding- an overview of key terms and processes

The course will be delivered using a variety of methods. These include group work, discussions, PowerPoint slides, videos and case-studies.

Both days  must be attended.

Young Leaders Residential

Venue: PGL, Windmill Hill, Hailsham BN27 4RZ

Dates: Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July 2022

Times: Arrive 9am Saturday I Depart 3pm Sunday

Cost: £50.00 per person

This is a subsidised event for Young People with leadership experience, training and potential. For 14-19 yrs old to enhance skills.

Young Leaders Residential Training – £50 per person

This is a subsidised event for Young People with some leadership experience, training and potential.

For 14-19 years old to enhance their leadership skills and develop their involvement in their groups/clubs. This course is is accredited through the digital badge scheme.

There are different activities during the day to take part in.

All food, accommodation and activities are included.
