NABGC 100 Mile Canoe Challenge Activity Weekend

Group Leaders Training Weekend

Date: Arrive Friday evening 28th May to Monday 4th June 2021

Venue: Broadway’s Meadow, Barrow upon Soar, Loughborough LE12 8XJ

For the second year running Paddle Plus will not be able to hold the 100 mile Canoe Challenge for NABGC due to Covid. Which presents us with a great opportunity to get together a group of aspirant water group leaders from all of the clubs and members of the safety team to have an enjoyable weekend, looking at paddle skills and group leadership on the water.

As a result, we would hope that more clubs will feel able to send teams to take part when the challenge restarts in May 2022. Each club can send up to three adult leaders to take part. They will need to bring their own camping kit. All meals will be provided and where needed, we can offer assistance with travel expenses.

• Arrival will be on Friday evening 28th May

• Local paddle/training followed by curry evening on Saturday 29th May

• Longer paddle and campfire BBQ on Sunday 30th May

• Trip to Matlock Bath for a paddle on the River Derwent Monday 31st May

• You are welcome to stay over Monday evening and depart Tuesday or leave directly after finishing on the Monday

The only cost for the weekend is your time and if you can cover it, your travel.

We are asking for a deposit of £20 per person which will be refunded upon attendance.
