Find It Out Plus is a health and wellbeing service delivered in partnership by YMCA Downslink Group and West Sussex County Council. The service provides information, advice and guidance to 11-25 year-olds on a wide range of wellbeing issues including physical and mental health, housing, education, employment, sexual health and substance misuse.
The Find It Out service is due to move into the Community Hub (based at Worthing Library) in late 2020. Over the next year, the Find It Out Plus is developing to provide a more comprehensive youth emotional wellbeing offer, acting as the front door for information, advice, guidance, assessment and referral for young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
What is the Find It Out Plus Youth Advisory Board?
The Youth Advisory Board offers young people aged 11-25 the opportunity to get involved with the developments of the Find It Out Plus project, ensuring that young people are at the heart of all the work we do. We believe that young people are the experts, so getting their voice heard is essential.
Who is eligible to apply to the Youth Advisory Board?
Anyone aged 11-25 from Worthing and Adur who wants to make an impact in their local community can take part in the Youth Advisory Board. Young people with an interest in health, wellbeing, politics and local issues, art, media or leadership development are encouraged to apply.
What does it cost?
Absolutely nothing! The Youth Advisory Board is completely free for you to get involved with. Plus, we’ll provide you with drinks and snacks to get you through the meeting. We can also provide a limited number of travel bursaries to support you getting to and from the meetings.
What will be required of me?
You will be required to complete an application form and attend 5 meetings over the course of a 1-year period. Each meeting will take place every 3 months, and will happen on an agreed day and time, which will be decided upon by young people at the first meeting.
Applications are quick and easy – just complete the short application form attached by the 10th March. Completed applications can be returned to:
Elinor Adie, Find It Out Plus, 24 Marine Place, Worthing, BN11 3DN
Or emailed to: Elinor.email@example.com
Alternatively, if you find writing applications difficult, please call Eli on 07884 549349 to arrange a phone or face to face conversation where she will assist you with completing the application form.
When will I find out?
If successful, applicants will receive an email at least two weeks prior to the first meeting inviting them to the meeting or explaining why they have not been offered a space on the YAB.
The first YAB Meeting will take place on Wednesday 25th March at the Find It Out Centre, 6-8pm.
