Sussex Clubs for Young People are committed to developing a vibrant grassroots led voluntary and community youth sector, which involves, empowers and meets the needs of young people in Sussex.
We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, young people and community focused team players who can help us to develop universal open-access youth provision. Based in Sussex for 14 or 21 hours a week (dependent on candidates) you will show an enthusiasm for working with volunteers and partners to build an effective service.
We are actively working to raise funding for full-time posts and candidates with demonstrable skills in raising funds to secure and develop their posts are welcome.
Working with partners, volunteers and others you will develop and deliver regular weekly youth clubs to create positive informal, educational and recreational activities chosen by and developed with young people aged 9 to 19 (or to 25 with special educational needs) rooted in their community that are safe, fun, welcoming and engaging.
You must be able to demonstrate the following:
That you hold a recognised qualification in working with young people (e.g. JNC youth work)
Relevant experience of working with young people and an understanding of the particular issues they face.
Ability to effectively plan, co-ordinate, and deliver a youth curriculum offer appropriate to the needs of 9 to 19 year-old young people and up to 25 with special educational needs.
Ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of part time youth workers and volunteers.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with senior managers, external agencies, colleagues, parents and young people.
Ability to work independently and on own initiative, with excellent time management skills and an ability to manage a range of projects at any one time
Understanding of the issues relating to multi-agency working and ability to undertake such work effectively.
An understanding of the legislation pertaining to work with young people and safeguarding, and the ability to implement policies in relation to the job responsibilities.
An ability to monitor outcomes, achieve targets, evaluate projects and report results.
The ability to successfully motivate and engage young people in youth work programmes.
You will be based in Sussex and will be required to hold a clean driving license and be able to travel to sessions, and the willingness to undertake a MIDAS driving qualification.
Your work will be primarily out of school hours with at least two or more evening sessions per week.
