Courses on offer
Sussex Clubs for Young People works with practitioners across Sussex with decades of experience in youth work as lecturers, team managers, detached workers and workers in charge from a variety of disciplines.
We currently offer the following training:
- YOUNG LEADERS A certificated residential experience for young leaders at Level 1 or 2 using material from UK Youth. The training is aimed at young people aged 14+ who are already volunteering at their youth club and combines a mixture of classroom sessions and outdoor activities and are able to attend this course on their own or in a small group of 2 or 3.
- FIRST AID Training for youth workers / adult volunteers. This can be held at your premises and normally runs from 10 am to 4 pm.
- FIRST AID TASTERS A workshop taster for young people in their club setting.
- FOOD HYGIENE TRAINING In partnership with Banana Skin Safety we can offer Level 2 Food Hygiene training for you and your young people.
- INTRODUCTION TO YOUTH WORK Training to help adult volunteer or paid club workers improve their youth work skills and knowledge. The course is run over 2 days with a week in between each session to allow home study to be completed.
- HOW TO RUN A YOUTH CLUB SUCCESSFULLY Training over one day or two evenings to help look at the essentials of running a youth club from setting boundaries, dealing with challenging behaviour and stress management.
- INTRODUCTION TO SAFEGUARDING AND ONLINE SAFETY In partnership with Safety-Net based in Brighton or directly we can offer these staff/volunteer training sessions at your club, normally on week day evenings between 6 and 9 pm.
